The Nunnery, originally called The Community of the Holy Name, was a religious convent established for nuns. It's a Grade II listed building that was built in 1879. At one point in time, this location housed roughly 250 nuns, all carrying out their daily religious duties and tasks in the eyes of the Lord.

 

In the 1960s the intake of novices declined significantly, and by the mid 1980s, the Community was struggling financially, leaving them no choice but to sell off land for housing and later industrial development. The Nunnery was sold to a property developer in 1989, leaving the few remaining number of nuns to move into a smaller convent in Derby, where they still remain today.

 

The Nunnery is a huge site consisting of a few historic buildings that have stood the test of time, including the beautiful Church where masses, congregations and prayer gatherings took place, and two large houses where the nuns lived in and gathered for their meals throughout the day.

 

Today, The Nunnery stands in the shadow of its former self, with its derelict rooms, creepy corridors, dark cloister and terrifying basements that send shivers down your spine. The Nunnery is renowned for its intriguing paranormal investigations and ghostly goings on.

The Nunnery is one of the UK's most haunted locations, with several reports of paranormal activity and many accounts of ghost sightings here.

 

One Nun in particular is a prominent spirit at this location. She has been interacted with and sensed numerous times throughout the Cloister and Chapel, and is very friendly towards paranormal investigators wanting to contact her, so long as their intentions are pure.

 

Disembodied voices, phantom footsteps, loud bangs and horrific moans are often heard from the empty rooms, corridors and basements, and shadow sightings have also been seen around the location. Some investigators have even witnessed full-bodied apparitions of women in black dresses and headwear, as well as sensing priests and monks here. Are these the former nuns of years gone-by who still haunt their home?

 

When the location is idle, local residents have reported hearing chanting and singing coming from the main Church building in the dead of night, despite no one being around. They've even heard the sounds of an organ playing, despite the organ no longer being in the building. Are these fascinating audibles a residual recording imprinted into the stone and brickwork of this place?

 

One story from many years ago tells of builders doing some maintenance work to the site, but one day they all ran out of the building refusing to continue the work, due to their tools disappearing and then reappearing in a different part of the building, and some even described their tools having moved on their own.

 

Other than our base room, there is no electricity or lighting throughout this entire complex, meaning apart from your torchlight and equipment lights, you'll be in complete darkness with your senses, making this investigation one for those who are brave to challenge their deepest fears and curiosities.

PARKING AT EVENT: Great Malvern Retail Park adjacent to The Nunnery. Guests to wait outside the Costa in retail park until some of our team meet you there 15 minutes before event start time to register and guide onto The Nunnery site. DO NOT BE LATE! Once gates are locked there's no access allowed after.

 

REMAINING BALANCE: Needs to be paid FOUR WEEKS prior to the event date. Failure to pay your remaining balance before this deadline will result in you forfeiting your places and your places will be sold on.

 

WHAT TO BRING: A torch, a warm coat/jacket, sensible footwear, any equipment you wish to bring along (your responsibility), your positive and open-minded energies.
