The Palace Theatre in Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire is a majestic performance theatre that has many resident ghosts. Built in 1920, the Palace Theatre has seen stage shows, pantomimes, plays, musicals throughout the decades, but something more sinister lurks between the seats. HISTORY

The Palace Theatre in Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire was built in the late 1910s and opened in 1920 by a local businesswoman called Emily Blagg.

Since opening, the Palace Theatre has been the home of some of the best shows, pantomimes and musicals in the country. Status Quo, Jasper Carrott, The Chuckle Brothers, Psychic Sally Morgan, Su Pollard, Terry Deary (Horrible Histories) and Shakespearean Actor Sir Donald Wolfit, are just a few among the many legends in music and entertainment who have visited and performed at this beautiful venue.

There is a story passed down generations about a suicide taking place in the Theatre. Tragedy occurred sometime in the 20th Century, when a headmistress was having an affair with a man who worked at the Palace Theatre. Her secret affair became public, and through the shame she brought to herself and her family, she is said to have taken her own life in the upper seating of the Auditorium. We don't know how she took her own life, or if this story is completely true, but as we all know stories tend to have a bit of truth in them somewhere.

Over the decades the Palace Theatre has gone through numerous restorations and changes, and currently the building is conjoined with the National Civil War Centre, which also has a lot of history with its Georgian and Tudor buildings, as well as the energies emanating from the museum artefacts.

GHOSTS & HAUNTINGS

A lot of reported hauntings take place in the Palace Theatre, including poltergeist activity witnessed by staff and actors, such as a dressing room doors opening and closing on their own, theatre seats being down with no one sitting in them, and people's possessions going missing and conveniently turning up in random places.

Apparitions have also been spotted in the Theatre Auditorium, manifesting in a frightening greyish haze. Loud footsteps and disembodied voices have also been heard behind the stage and in the dressing rooms.

But the most famous ghost is that of a former headmistress, who is rumoured to have committed suicide inside the Palace Theatre, after having an affair was exposed. It is said that this former headmistress haunts the Palace Theatre, with her apparition being seen by both staff, performers and visitors.

Our team are friendly, professional, approachable and knowledgeable with paranormal investigating, and we will guide and support you to make sure you get the most out of your investigation. We welcome everyone from all walks of life, as our events are a safe space for all who love and enjoy the thrill of ghost hunting. Whether you're a paranormal novice or an experienced investigator, you'll be well-looked after and treated like family.

This is an honest ghost hunting experience, so there won't be any fakery or trickery during the night. We believe that if activity happens, it happens for real.

On your ghost hunt, you will be split into smaller groups to give you the best, personal experience possible. You will also get hands on with various pieces of ghost hunting equipment and participate in interesting paranormal experiments. While we encourage everyone
to get involved in the night's vigils, you don't have to partake in experiments like Ouija Boards and the Estes Method if you don't
want to, we have plenty of other equipment for you to use.

You will also have a couple of breaks throughout the night, where we provide you with unlimited refreshments and snacks.

This location has NO sleepover facilities
We operate a STRICT No Alcohol/Drugs Policy on our events, and if caught or believed to be under the influence of any alcohol or drugs, you will be removed from the event immediately and banned from all future events - No refunds
All attendees MUST bring a torch to the event, as we will be investigating in dark areas and low light conditions
Sensible footwear is required for the location's environmental conditions
In the colder months we advise to wear warm layered clothing, and bring a warm coat with you as the night will get cooler as the event progresses
History tours are NOT provided at this location, but we will talk briefly on the location's past
Ouija Boards are brought to events at this location, however we don't force you to take part in them
